In Florida, you do not need a boat operator license, if you were born before January 1st, 1988. If you were born on or after January 1st, 1988, you will need a “Florida Boating Safety Identification Card” or a ”Florida Boater Education Temporary Certificate” (You can get this Certificate with a small test). This card is not a boating license, it is a certification that the person named on the card has successfully completed the required boating safety course.
